Volunteering
So you want to volunteer at Califur? GREAT!
This year at Califur 2.4, we will have the opportunity for everyone to help out with the convention. We know that not everyone has the ability to put as much effort into the convention before the event as our staff does. So for those of you who want to help, but are really only able to help out for the time your at the hotel, we have a special title for you.
Typically referred to as gophers, your duties will entail all kinds of different departments. Sometimes we need more door "badge checkers" and sometimes we need somone to watch equipment in the gaming room, or sometimes we just need people to run things between departments. To sign up and volunteer, just stop by registration (Santiago room), volunteering will be just inside or just outside the room.
Once you have signed up to be a gopher, you can stop by the volunteer table and arrange to undertake specific assignments at specific times. Given the number of people we need to guard doors and the like, we would request that everybody do this at least once, but it’s not obligatory. You may also walk up to any staff member apparently in need of assistance and volunteer your help.
The time you work will be recorded (your time will be rounded to the nearest 15 minutes), and your hours-worked can be redeemed for some neat stuff. You might even be able to get a discount membership for next year’s con!
