Let's all Cheer for the Bad Guys!
(and Gals, too!)
We boo them, we hiss them, we cheer for their downfall - and our lives (and entertainment) wouldn't be the same without them. They're the villains of our favorite stories - be they in books, comics, movies, TV shows, video games, or wherever they ply their dastardly trades. They're the antagonists, the forces that our heroes must overcome - in other words, they are what makes there be a story in the first place.
So who are your favorites? Maybe Scar, the murderous big-cat usurper from Disney's The Lion King? Or maybe Scar's whiney leonine cousin Prince John from The Adventures of Robin Hood? Or how about rats instead of cats, like the conniving Jenner from The Secret of NIMH, or the murderous barbarian Cluny the Scourge from Redwall, or the evil genius Professor Ratigan from The Great Mouse Detective? From the futuristic worlds of Dr. Zaius, Dr. Viper, and Dr. Hamsterviel ... to the ancient worlds of Ublaz and Ferahgo ... to the gritty street scenes of Killer Croc and Jack Salem. And from the giant named Monstro down to the tiny would-be world conqueror known as The Brain ... so many from which to choose!
Of course, what would good villains be without good hench-beings? Remember Sir Hiss and the Sheriff of Nottingham, who kept Prince John knee-deep in gold in Robin Hood? Or how about the laughing-but-deadly trio of hyenas from The Lion King? Or Ratigan's poor, flightless, nearly footless bat-toady named Fidget? All of them and more worked hard to get the villains into their positions of power - until those darned heroes came along to mess things up, of course!
We're giving them all their due at CaliFur.3, returning this May to the Holiday Inn Costa Mesa in sunny Southern California - who ever knew there'd be villainy taking place THERE? Well friends, it seems that CaliFur has been invaded by agents of a mysterious ... corporation, of great power and ... suspicious goals to say the least! What are they? Who are they? And what does all this mean for your average furry fan looking to meet up with other fans and have some fun? About us
We were founded by a dedicated group of furs who wanted to keep a convention in the Greater Los Angeles area. Califur is the product of our effort. There are many new faces and many older ones wearing new hats. Either way, we have a great team here and we plan to keep this up. As you can see our staff includes many veterans of furry and many new faces as well. We think we're the right group for the right moment, but that's up to you, our members, to decide.
